A lunar division in the panchang

The Rashtriya Panchang explanation uses twenty-seven nakṣatra divisions across the nirayana zodiac, each spanning 13°20′. Its names table runs from Aśvinī to Revatī. These numerical divisions belong to the publication’s stated astronomical convention.

A division and its star reference

The term nakṣatra can also occur in historical discussions of stellar reference points. A modern table of divisions and an older textual list ask related but different questions. Note which source and convention are being used before comparing them.

Learn the reference, then compare

Start with the official names table and locate the accompanying methodological explanation. Record the units and the role of the Moon. A list of names by itself supplies no personal prediction, and an exact-looking time is meaningful only within the calculation’s conventions. This record is introductory; historical changes in nakṣatra systems and text-specific uses require fuller source work.
